Google is rolling out new services to attract users and fresh revenue through content partnerships

Los Angeles: Google Inc., operator of the world’s most-popular search engine, has held discussions with media companies to introduce its own online-television service, people with knowledge of the matter said.
“The product would offer viewers television packages that bypass cable subscriptions,” said the people, who asked not to be identified because the matter is private. “The talks, which also cover issues related to online piracy, are preliminary and nothing is imminent,” the people said.

Intel wants its chips to power your smartphone, but it’s not having much luck. Though it’s the dominant maker of desktop and laptop processors, it’s a bit player in mobile phones. Rivals like Qualcomm, Nvidia, MediaTek, and others control 95 percent of the smartphone chip market, and Intel is struggling to make any meaningful progress to turn that around. Intel missed the smartphone boat. But, there’s another boat coming along soon, and Intel already has its tickets booked.

Apple is keeping silent on how long this promotion will last, but the structure is quite simple. For a limited time, Apple device users are entitled to five free games and five free applications. Games and applications previously costing 99 cents upwards to $19.99 are now free.

As part of the never-ending smartphone battle, Nokia has unveiled a new handset that features a 41 megapixel sensor camera.
The camera is sufficiently powerful that Nokia states that users will be able to zoom in and reframe their photos without worrying about the image quality suffering. The phone will be called the Lumia 1020. Nokia, according to Tech Radar, note that phone will allow owners to adjust focus, shutter speed and white balance via a new user interface

Apple said to be working on ad-skipping for TV! oh my god!!!

A new report says Apple's trying to woo cable companies on ad-skipping technology for TV programs.
There's new fuel for the fire that Apple's working on technology for an updated TV set-top box or TV platform.
Citing unnamed sources, tech writer Jessica Lessin (formerly of The Wall Street Journal), says Apple's been meeting with cable companies to pitch a service that would enable TV viewers to skip commercials.
